So here in Austin, Texas that time of year is almost on us where we can all overdose in music, film and interactivity. SXSW, that wonderful feast of fun and entertaining business is just around the corner.
There is just so much great music going on it is hard to cover it all so I am gonna cover just the Irish bands that are coming our way. Some I have heard of and some are new to me (being that I am away from home so much). All in all there is some choice Irish music being represented so I am proud of the sounds that will be shared here. One of the nice things about SXSW for Irish bands is that it falls on or around St.Paddy's day so the lads and lassies have one up on other bands from other countries not so fortunate to have such a prominent ad popular national holiday and celebration fall at this time.
Approrpriately enough we start off with the amazing electronic tune from Jape, 'I Spend Too Much Time At Conferences'. Such a simple and sweet track that just oozes emotion. Jape is definitely one of my favourite Irish artists. (Both this and the second tune from the Redneck Manifesto are taken off the brilliant compilation of Irish sounds, 'Kicking Against...')

This tune from the Redneck Manifesto just always gets me. For some reason, and especially when I moved from Ireland to the USA, it seems to sum up the many emotions that you have when you have left your homeland. Nice one lads.

This Frames track comes from their amazing 'For the Birds' album. Love it.
A story about me and The Frames (that they won't remember!). Way back when I was a roadie for another great Irish band, The Castenedas, we played a gig at a college in Dublin with The Frames. As they were a more well known band their beer rider was bigger than ours and so after we played, they went on stage leaving their rider unguarded. Well, as you can imagine, we couldn't resist. Sorry Glen and Co. Gimme a shout in Austin and I'll pay ye back. ;-)

Bobby-I thank you sir and my apologies to the Immediate that I have now correctly posted a tune from. This one is definitely better. ;-)
Very nice blog you have over there at Hi-Fi Popcorn by the way.
Cheers

Hello sir!
I thought you had gotten a new Immediate song or something.. but that is not an Immediate song! Or maybe another band called that. Search the hype machine for them.. I posted on them a couple of times. They're actually amazing, unlike whatever that song you posted is! :D
