Party Favor

Music is just great. I think we can all agree on that. It invokes all kinds of emotions and memories at the first sound of a piano being played, trumpet blowing, guitar strumming or a voice that sings words that mean the world to you. Music can be used to deliver a message that can make you think, challenge you to act or to show love for someone.

Then there is music that is just made to make you move your body!
This is one such tune.
Now I don't know DJ Sandrinho and I certianly can't speak to the message that he wanted to convey when creating this track but I really do believe that all he foresaw was a room full of bodies dancing along without abandon. Mission accomplished I say! I've listened to this track at least 20 times since buying it last night and each time I am so tempted to hop on a plane and head off to Brazil to party. :-)
Baile Funk at its finest here  with such playful percussion and some of the dirtiest bass that I've ever come across. Released on Man Recordings ,this track, Montagem Percua, is taken from Baile Funk Masters #1.

Ze Zam

Taken from the excellent Shapes Compilation 2007 on TruThoughts this tune, Ze Zam, is by Me & You which is a project from TM Juke and Robert Luis.

Ze Zam is a 7 minute percussion fest; batucada driven and filled with wonderous electronic sounds that ebb and flow around your ears with a slight broken beat feel and subtle bassline that starts sneaking in and out about halfway through the song and then we are pulled back into the samba with a passion.
