Most definitely the summer tune of choice for me!
This is the Spiritual South Remix of Fallback by Middlewood Sessions
Released on the amazing Brownswood Recordings this tune effortlessly cross over many styles during the course of its 7 minutes
with a number of breakdowns making the transitions (especially at
around 4.30 mins.) A f**king joy of a tune if ever.
Somewhat reminiscent of Inverse Cinematics with their beats and bass but then the melodies are fresher and full of grooves that sets them apart.
Middlewood Sessions were "born out of a love for cinematic jazz, funk and hip hop, in the beautiful industrial northern suburbs of Sheffield." Looks like we can expect "some gems in the pipeline - huge horn sections and dark strings - with some solid drumming and big vocals thrown in for good measure."
Checkout what Straight No Chaser (one of my favourite magazines) said in their Summer edition 2007.
" 'Fall Back' from Sheffield's Middlewood Sessions, illuminates how
beautiful, cinematic and bursting with life contemporary British Jazz
can sound."

I believe the term used for this tune should be 'massive'!
Buy Fallback in vinyl or digital.
