back in 2009 word got out about this london based producer that was creating innovative beats with samples galore that you could spend days, nay weeks, trying to figure out.
well now we hear that the album, Paul White & The Purple Brain, is coming out on One-Handed Music (home to Bullion and Fulgeance, as featured here) and Now-Again Records in June.
With packaging from past releases looking like this I am almost as curious as what the release looks like as much as sounds like. Almost.....
So, with that, onto the music. Opening up with psychedelic licks and organ grinds Paul brings in the beats that while lending a new angle to hearing the sounds they certainly could easily have been rolled out with the original clip to much love. Gonna be exciting to hear what else he does across the album. Expect to be excited, mesmerized, surprised and quite delighted.
From the press release:
A collaboration of sorts, the entire record is based around and inspired by the work of little-known Swedish psych-rock guru S.T. Mikael. Heavy on Eastern influences and otherworldly concerns, Mikael’s music ranges from searing electric guitar-led dirges to dreamlike ballads to ghostly atmospheric experiments and has been issued in tiny quantities since the 1990s on the Subliminal Sounds label.
I saw his face, his heart suddenly began to move around, a wave of strange feelings in silence fills from the bottom of your heart, feel that the tide had gone down the sand, love moist. She soft, but can not say . It was clear that this man is the husband of another person, the father of three children. The shadow of children and their education has suffered from discouraging him! That summer, his love, his warm smile and despair, and again in full bloom.

Have to admit that I am not too fond of this one.
